News Digest October 2021
A curation of news stories impacting health insurance and brokers, population health management and health tech from last month.
Once again, we see the worldwide PMI news dominated with stories of acquisitions and expansions, both geographically and in services offered. Chubb are acquiring Cigna’s Life, Accident and Supplemental benefits businesses in 7 countries (but not the IPMI unit). Vitality and Allianz are both expanding their reach in Africa, as is MetLife in India. In IPMI specifically, Bupa has a new head of its Global unit, and together with Generali have announced a strategic partnership. Meanwhile we hear that the owners of MSH international, Siaci Saint Honore is completing its Diot/Burrus Group merger thus forming an even larger, EU-headquartered global insurance brokerage. Adoption of telehealth and AI to drive engagement and improve outcomes continues with the joining together of Babylon and Microsoft, Swiss Re and Wysa, as well as Welltok and Virgin Pulse. In health services, consolidation within continents continues.
The global PMI market remains a dynamic and evolving one where real strategic understanding is invaluable.
