News Digest April 2022
A curation of news stories impacting health insurance and brokers, population health management and health tech from last month.
This last month, we saw 2 big news events in IPMI. Following the Thailand sale announcement, Aetna International revealed it has – at last – entered into a preferred partnership with Allianz Partners, covering all their regions excluding Americas, Thailand and India. Meanwhile, on a smaller scale, there was major news from APRIL, regarding their acquisition of A+ Insurance, reinforcing their position in SE Asia. UAE news on visas always interests, and we have the ‘official’ launch of Health Compass which aims to improve the fit between customer need and product type, for all types of brokers.
In the wider Health insurance area, the deal that most caught our attention was Munich Re Life US’s acquisition of Clareto. This ‘could’ be one of the breakthrough moments for shared health data and how is affects life insurance pricing.
Mental health as usual features prominently, with an article showing it is the biggest expat concern and another describing the positive impact of EAP’s and the importance of certain implementation approaches, plus the usual investment ‘splash’. Very interestingly we see news of a set back for Teladoc as regards target underachievement.
